Tooth Whitening
A bright smile conveys the look of youth, health, and confidence. Our office offers two excellent options for whitening that are professional, clinically proven, prescription quality treatments available only through a dental office.

The take home system employs the use of a set of ten (upper / lower) easy to use, tray delivered strips that are work for approximately ½ hour a day. We have had outstanding results and patient satisfaction with this more affordable, high value option.

The in-office whitening procedure is truly the “gold standard” of tooth whitening. A much stronger gel is carefully and safely applied to the teeth in a controlled manner with the gums protected. Treatment time is approximately one hour, and again we have had outstanding results and high patient satisfaction with the procedure.

It is important to realize that certain colorations and conditions of teeth respond differently, so a consultation with Dr. Ciuffreda is essential to assess the probability of the whitening treatment to produce a significant change in tooth color, as well as if whitening is advisable for you and the individually based advantages and disadvantages of one system vs. the other for you.

Another important factor to consider is that fillings, crowns, veneers and bridges do not change color with tooth whitening procedures. Therefore we generally advise our patients to consider if they have a desire to whiten their smile prior to any restorative treatments, especially to the front teeth. This way, if a patient would like a whiter smile, we could whiten the teeth first, and then match any needed fillings, crowns, etc. to the new lighter shade.

Porcelain Veneers (Laminates)
Porcelain veneers, otherwise known as laminates, are thin shells of porcelain that are most commonly used for cosmetic enhancement. The amount of tooth reduction is much less than that of a crown, and this restoration provides an optimal level of translucency to achieve a natural looking, beautiful smile. Veneers are not as strong as crowns, and are often not indicated following rooth canal therapy, or for teeth with large fractured or decayed areas.
